Marking for Accounting of Special Clothing
Workwear Labeling for Lifecycle Management
Organizing the tracking and control of workwear lifecycle at enterprises requires the implementation of a reliable identification system. Such a system must accompany each unit of workwear throughout all stages of its use: from procurement, storage, and issuance to the employee — to washing, repair, exchange, write-off, and disposal. For this purpose, specialized labeling is used, which varies by purpose, application technology, and resistance to industrial conditions.
The Importance of Labeling
Standard care labels on clothing (washing, ironing, etc.) are not sufficient for industrial applications. For effective tracking, labeling must:
- identify each item of clothing individually;
- resist mechanical, thermal, and chemical influences;
- enable automation of tracking, movement, and inventory control.
Types of Labeling:
Clothing Labels are divided into:
- Printed labels — applied using thermal transfer printing on satin or nylon tape. They are washable and may include a QR code linking to a web passport, serial number, and issue date.
- Embroidered labels — text or symbols sewn directly into the fabric, offering durability and suitable for permanent identification.
Clothing Tags
Tags are usually produced as cardboard or plastic templates with printed data such as:
- product type, size, and production date;
- barcode or QR code;
- company logo.
These tags can be used either as disposable (e.g., when issuing new clothing) or reusable items.
RFID Tags
RFID technology allows maximum automation of inventory and tracking:
- Sewn-in RFID labels — integrated into clothing and do not interfere with wearability;
- Self-adhesive RFID labels — suitable for temporary use;
- RFID tags — attached to clothing at the point of issuance;
- Reusable RFID clips — ideal for reversible attachment where needed.
RFID enables tracking of garment movement, wash cycles, usage periods, and repairs.
Anti-theft Tags
For enterprises with restricted areas, a sewn-in anti-theft tag can be used. It triggers an alarm if an item is removed without authorization.
Integrating various types of labeling — from basic care labels to RFID tags — ensures effective lifecycle tracking of workwear, reduces losses, improves discipline, and simplifies enterprise logistics.
